Brainchild is a band composed of many things. The four members have, with some crew changes, been working hard and jamming our asses off since 2007. Right now we’re promoting our self titled debut, working on a new EP, doing gigs around the country and trying to connect with other musicians, fans, and friends.
The music is a mix of bluesy rock, funk, hip hop, psychedelic jams and a bit of metal. We’ve been described as “dance punk”, “a tone-deaf hybrid of hardcore and poetry slam” and as “neopsychedelia”.
We’re not the only ones who find it hard to categorize our music.
The band started when two childhood friends quit their old cover band and started writing real music.In the previous project, half of the reason for David to go to rehearsals was the female singer. This annoyed Jerker, who spent his time playing guitar in a garage while the others were eating cinnamon buns.
The new project, soon to be named Brainchild, had purer driving forces. A need to express something and to rebel against the small town the duo grew up in.
We soon found ourself a drummer and vocalist and took our first trembling steps on the way to becoming a real rock band.
After a while and some demo tapes, we found another man to take the mic – Adam.While we were on a party, the shuffled music player gave us the song “Sir Psycho Sexy” and suddenly – we made eye contact with this tall, dark man who started screaming along to the lyrics with us from across the room. Something felt right.
After a couple of years of hard work, we started getting interest from some outside sources. This led to us recording our debut album around christmas 2010. It was released after the summer, and we started our own label to keep control of our music. After a turbulent period of both starting a company and loosing our first drummer, we got on our feet. Things are now rolling smoother than ever before.
